| The Browns added a 2nd bath upstairs, modernized the kitchen at least once and added a lavatory on the 1st floor. The Ebels have done some radical interior remodeling. Also they enclosed the screened in porch and added a deck in 1995. In 1996 they built a 10' x 12' storage barn (Mark Kuhlman, contractor). | ||||

| Story 1: | From Eliza Brown, daughter of Miles Evelend. "I was born on Park Avenue in a small brick house which was torn down and a new home was built at 723 Park Avenue. In 1922 we moved to 734 Park into a home that my Dad had built. At this time, there were only seven houses plus ours on Park Avenue. After World War II Bruce and I came back to Terrace Park and lived at 729 Park for three years. In 1950 we moved back to 734 Park Avenue and we lived there until 1995 when the house was sold to Greg and Reed Ebel." More Eveland family information in the TPHS archives. |
| Story 2: | The Browns bought this house from Eliza's parents, Miles and Penelope Eveland. Eliza grew up here. Bruce Brown's mother lived at 108 Red Bird Lane. |
| Story 3: | Miles and Penelope Eveland owned the Terrace Park Lumber Company with
Miles' brother, Harry Eveland. An affidavit by lawyer, Hawley Todd,
confirms that Miles and Penelope were married and that Harry was Miles'
brother. Miles F. Eveland was born in 1879 and died in 1949. Penelope L. Eveland was born in 1886 and died July 29, 1971. |
| Story 4: | Bruce Donald Brown was born 3 August 1918 and died 9 June 2008, aged 90 years. Eliza Jane Brown was born 1 May 1920 and died 4 December 2006, aged 86 years. They are both buried in St. Thomas Columbarium, Section 1, Niche 5. |
| Story 5: | Information from conversations between Mel Aichholz &
Esther H. M. Power, May & September 1991. At the end of Stanton Avenue was a gravel operation started by the Erretts. The Erretts needed water for their gravel operation and applied to council for permission to use water from the dump. Miles (presumably as mayor) and council said "no". The Erretts sold the subdivision to Miles and Harry Eveland who had it replatted. Harry and Miles divided the subdivision in half. They applied for hard top roads in their subdivision and the village hard-topped them (Franklin, Stanton, Princeton and Poplar) and apportioned the cost to the owners. Mel notified owners and sent a bill to Harry who arrived at Mel's door with a check for $7,000 - his assessment. Harry sold only two lots a year for his retirement. To qualify, a buyer had to buy lumber from Harry's lumber company. Miles sold his lots faster. Harry's son, George, later had the Terrace Park Lumber Company where Denison Lane is now. Later, before his death, George ran the Milford Oil Company at Rt. 50 & I 275. |
