Story 4: The Smoots are related to the Stuntz family (625 Elm Avenue).  Clara Bader is the sister of Albert Bader who married Elizabeth Ritchie, a granddaughter of Chauncey and Elizabeth Stuntz.  Al and Clara are from a long time Cincinnati family.  Clara Smoot (1902-1990) was an accountant with Wm. Mers & Co. in the Dixie Terminal Building in downtown Cincinnati.  She was an early pioneer in the world of business women.  One of her clients was Letha Green (716 Floral Avenue), who was the last owner of the Green Line steamboat company, owners of the Delta Queen.  Bill Smoot (1909, Goshen VA-1994) worked for Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co.  He was handy with his hands and specialized in repair of electric meters.  He also was a serious gardener at his Terrace Park home.  The Smoots lived in Madisonville and Kennedy Heights before moving to Terrace Park in 1970.  They were friends with the previous owners, Harry and Amy Weiss, and bought the house from the estate.  The Smoots had no children so their niece, Jane (nee Bader) Hern, living in Milford, helped them getting to doctor's appointments etc. later in life.
