| Story 1: | This is the house built for the Rockaway family when they
moved back to Terrace Park after WWII. When John
(720 Elm) was born they lived
at 509 Marietta. Then they moved
away and lived at a variety of army bases all over during the war.
When they came back to Cincinnati after the war they lived for a while
with an aunt in Cincinnati before moving to the 3rd floor of 733
Elm while their house was being built. Col. John Dobbling Rockaway was born 7 March 1908 and died 10 October 1995, aged 87 years. Dorothy Doan Hussey Rockaway was born 30 June 1912 and died 10 December 2006 in Naples FL, aged 94 years. They are both buried in Walnut Hills Cemetery, Cincinnati OH. Their son, John, bought "Gravelotte, 720 Elm, in 1997. Their son, James, lived at 309 Stanton. |
