| Story 1: | House built by Charles Meurer (731 Miami), artist, for his daughter Caroline Meurer (died 1994) and her husband Anton Burger. Interior pictures in TP Historical Society house notebook. Tina Hesser has a book handwritten by Caroline Meurer Burger, which contains information about the planning and building of the house: started in August 1938 and finished in 1939. |
| Caroline Meurer Burger was one of the five children of Daisy and Charles Meurer. As a child she "earned 25 cents an hour washing dishes and cleaning house for a family from Newport KY that had two summer cabins here. She saved her money and by the age of 12 was able to buy two bicycles, one for herself and one for a brother". Later "she worked her way through the University of Cincinnati and earned a B. A. and B. S. in education. She taught elementary school children for 40 years, almost all of them in Madisonville. Her ... husband, Anton, was an interior decorator and amateur painter and woodworker." (from an article by Camilla Warwick in the January 1993 Village Views). The family Caroline worked for was the Andrew sisters and their brother who was a large stockholder in Newport Steel Mills. | |
| Anton Burger was born 6 June 1905 and died 25 March 1989, aged 83 years. Caroline Burger was born 7 November 1905 and died 30 April 1994, aged 88 years. They are both buried in Section 14 of Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford OH, Evans Funeral Home |
| Story 2: | The land between 801 and 809 Miami was divided between the 2 when the Kennedys sold in 1997/8: 85' to 809 Miami and 135' to 801 Miami. The intent was that the land could not be built on. |
