| Story 6: |
The original Startsman family came to Terrace Park from
Winton Terrace (Winton Place Village according to the 1900 census). Those who came included Daniel H., Beatrice E., Guy,
Bessie M. and their father, William Glenny Startsman. This was soon after the mother
(Nellie) had
died. Between the time they came and the 1910 Census the father also
died (May 12, 1908). Daniel is at 223
Rugby in 1920 & 1930. Guy is at 213
Cambridge in 1920 and at 307 Oxford in 1930.

| Story 7: |
This home of Mr. & Mrs. (Gail) Robert Morrison was on the
1980 December 7 "Christmas in the Park" TP Garden Club House Tour. It
was a Sunday, homes were open from 3-7 PM and advance tickets were $2.50, $3
on the day. Proceeds were used for beautification of the village.

In 2000 when the Weigels were removing some insides of
the house they discovered quite a lot of charred wood indicating that at
some time there had been a bad fire in the house which had just been built
over. Ken Weiss, a builder who at one time did some work on the
house, also recalls seeing charred wood. |

Pat Fehl reports going with "Tommy" Proctor to Mrs.
Berens' Kindergarten here in the 1930s. This was before Toni Sommers had her
Nursery School at 308 Marietta. |

The Tiffany family lived in this one family house from
1957-1959. There were 3 children: Gretchen, who attended Mariemont
High School, Joseph, who attended Terrace Park Elementary School and
Beverly, who was too young for school. Both the dining room and the
bedroom above were octagonal. The home was on the House Tour during
the time the family lived there. (Information from Gretchen Tiffany
Hensel who married Warren Hensel, Mariemont High School 1960. In
2003 they live on Indian Hill.) |

Information from Father Cyprian Berens in 2005: "When
Edwin and Eleanor Berens moved from Evanston to Terrace Park in 1924 I
(Edwin) was 2 months
old. I had 2 older brothers at that time (Gregory Edwin, deceased by
2005, whose field was electronics & James John, medical doctor and
surgeon), and my sister (Mary Ellen Novak) was born in
1927. (Parents & siblings with their families all moved to the
Phoenix AZ area in the years 1948-1952 for health reasons.) Some of the information in my memory is from hearsay, some
from experience. My parents bought the house at Marietta & Myrtle
in 1924 with a bank loan. ... Our family occupied the first floor
and the second floor was rented, at one time to the Loren Loescher family.
We four children attended the nearby Terrace Park Elementary School, when
Mrs. Innis was principal and Eighth Grade teacher, Miss Potter Second
Grade. All students at that time remember the elephants of the
residue of the John Robinson Circus who performed on the front lawn of the
school. The elephants were Tony, Pit and Clara, with the mother(?)
Tillie. School classes were released to attend the burial of Tillie
on the Robinson estate. My mother, Eleanor Koch Berens, conducted a
nursery school in our home; she was degreed and certified at U. C.
Before we siblings went to school we set up the little chairs and other
equipment for the kindergarten. I think there was always a full
quota of children, even during depression time. One child who comes
to mind is "Cubby" Terrell, son of Pastor Terrell in
Milford. My father served for a time as scoutmaster with meetings at
the Community Building (on the other side of the railroad tracks), and
then in Milford. At some time before my personal experience and
memory, there was a fire in our house, caused, I was told, by a short
circuit. The restoration was done by a contractor named Stratman (Strathman?),
not by the other local contractor, Ed Schreiber. Our next door
neighbor (to the south) was Jimmy Whelan (Wieland), across the empty lot to the east of our house,
where our pony grazed, were the Stoehrs, and on the corner of Marietta and
Floral was the Doctor Neisley family. Probably in the 1920's my
parents bought a frame house on Lexington Avenue, which was occupied by the
Biery family. In the depths of the depression my
father, who was a merchant tailor with high priced men's clothing, was
unable to meet payments to the bank, which foreclosed on both houses in
1937. Our family moved to Hyde Park at that time." |

Breck Weigel's father, William
Frederick Weigel, was born 26 September 1923 and died 13 July 1990, aged 67
years. His mother, Frances Perry Weigel, was born 13 March 1931 and
died 23 July 2008, aged 77 years. They are both buried in St. Thomas
Church Columbarium, Section 9, Niche 253. |
