Description: | 2 story Victorian frame house, now with aluminum siding (1990), gable roof. |
Story 1: | 1886 - James Sibley, subdivision. George & Kate Lampey bought the lot in 1886. 1892 - house built. 1909 - Luella Everhart bought the garden lot, 50' x 200'. The early years of this house need more research. |
Story 2: | c1936-40 2nd floor apartment. c1942-1950 2nd floor apartment. At some time Louis Bosch and his wife, who ran the Terrace Park Market, lived on the 2nd floor (after the fire at the market???.) |
Story 3: | Richard Everhart's wife, Betty, is a niece of the two sisters who opened the Marigold Tea Room at 435 Elm. Richard also has some original copies of deeds. |
Story 4: | In 1936 Ruth's mother, Edna Everhart, cooked with kerosene but added Phil gas later. They had a regular coal furnace but later a stoker and later gas. (Gas wasn't brought into Terrace Park until after 1960 when gas mains through the village were approved.) After 1950 Ruth's Dad black topped their gravel drive. |
Story 5: | For many years Ruth Oberle was a popular baby sitter for many Terrace Park families. She also sold produce, especially tomatoes, out of her large garden (18 years). She put out produce, a scale and a jar or money box for making change on a table by Amherst Avenue and sold on the "honor system". Only once was there a theft and someone abused her trust. She proudly flew the American flag, taking it down every night and putting it up again in the morning no matter how severe the weather. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Church. She is survived by 6 daughters, a brother, Richard (actually a cousin who was brought up as a brother), and 10 grandchildren. |
Story 6: | Frank H. Everhart died 31 March 1959, Monroe Funeral Home. Edna Everhart was born 3 January 1893 and died 12 or 19 December 1978, aged 85 years, Noakes Funeral Home. Their daughter, Ruth Ann Everhart Oberle, was born 7 November 1915 and died 5 March 2000, aged 84 years, Evans Funeral Home. Her husband, Charles E. Oberle, was born 2 July 1916 and died 1 November 1976, aged 60 years, Noakes Funeral Home. They are all buried in Section 9 of Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford OH. |
