Description: 1 1/2 story red brick Sears catalogue house with distinctive sloped roof on front exterior, hipped gable roof.  Original house had 2 stories, 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, living room, dining room, office, kitchen, full basement 26' x 26' and detached garage,  Sears Mansfield, brick version of  Sears Dover.    "Sears had a huge marketing campaign for their brick homes in 1930, offering many of their popular models with brick veneer.  They even published a small specialty catalog with just the brick designs.  "
"I am researching homes purchased from Sears Roebuck, and know you have quite a few in Terrace Park.  I am currently going through the Cincinnati Enquirer Archives and checking the Hamilton Co Recorder's mortgage records.  Both of these are available on-line.  You already have the home at 314 Harvard on your street survey as a Sears Mansfield model.  I have now further documented this home as a Sears kit house as the building materials were financed through Sears Roebuck.  A notice appeared in the 13 Apr 1930 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer - Mortgages Filed section that stated - Gertrude M Fehl to E Harrison Powell- $7300.  A second mortgage- same names of $1850.  E. Harrison Powell was a Trustee for Sears between 1930 and 1933, and his name is listed on all mortgages through Sears during that time in our area."
Cincinnati Enquirer Mortgage Filed notice.  "I found the Terrace Park parcel description for Gertrude M Fehl in a separate Deed Transfer notice.  Researchers have found that second mortgages were quite common for Sears Houses between 1930 and 1933.  We think this was due to the newly formed Sears Home Construction Division, which would assist a home buyer with the construction costs of their Sears kit, using Sears subcontractors for labor."  All information found here in quotes is from Cindy Catanzaro in Jan/Feb 2016.  (see file at TP Historical Society.
Story 1: According to Pat Fehl this may have been one of the lots sold off by Mrs. Baldwin (219 Oxford) along with 316 Harvard and one across the street.  Mrs. Baldwin owned many lots in Terrace Park which she sold off (see story 1 on 219 Oxford).  The Fehls bought land at 611 Myrtle Avenue on February 16, 1940.  They sold it to Edna Jones Heil on November 26, 1943.
Story 2: Norman Fehl died 13 January 1962.
Gertrude M. Fehl was born 14 May 1895 and died 10 April 1987, aged 91 years, buried Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Story 3: Pat Fehl's companion, Margaret Ann "Peg" Roxby, died 3 June 2010, aged 78 years, Evans Funeral Home, Milford OH.  Dr. Patricia K. Fehl died 10 July 2012.
