Nicholas Shundich, beloved husband of Rosella Heinz

Steven F. Shundich of Chicago, IL, loving grandfather of Sean Nicholas and
Erin Claire McGillicuddy, dear brother of the late Mirka Shundich and Peter
Shundich, Friday, July 12, 2013, age 82 years, residence Terrace Park, OH.
He was a US Army Korean Veteran. A memorial service will be held at
St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Thursday, July 18, at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Peaslee
Neighborhood Center through St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 100 Miami Avenue,
Terrace Park, OH 45174. (More information at the TP Historical

Information about Rosell "Rosie" Shundich from Volume V,
Number 2 of the Tracker.
Roselle Shundich is a Terrace Park watercolor
artist I'm sure many of your know. If you do not, let me introduce her
to you. Rosell "Rosie" grew up in Pleasant Ridge. Her father,
Frederich G. Heinz, had a farm where he raised cattle, pigs, sheep and
chickens. He also was the second generation of his family to run and
operate a meat business at Stand No. 4 in Findlay Market. That's where
Rosie, with her parents, sister, and grandmother spent long days. Saturdays
were especially long. In the market everything had to be fast, waiting
on perhaps 2 or 3 customers at once because you did not want to lose one to
the shop across the way. When the market closed at the en of the ay,
there were still eliveries to be made to many downtown restaurants as well
as to homes. it was hard work but it was the family business so
everyone was involved.
Rosie graduated from Withrow High school and the
University of Cincinnati. How did she get started as an artist?
Perhaps some of it was in the genes since her grandfather was an especially
artistic cake decorator. Rosie's seventh grade art teacher noticed
what she could do and encouraged her by entering her in a poster contest.
She won! That must have given her confidence to continue painting.
Rosie works mainly in watercolor. Some of us
think of her as a landscape artist but, in fact, she paints a great many
different subjects, as you will notice when you attend one of her
exhibitions. You will find her works in a great many Terrace Park
homes. Of course, it's Rosie who did the wonderful water color of the
old Terrace Park Market with the Kroger Line car in front for the Terrace
Park Historical Society Lifetime Members. Most recently she has
started making somewhat of a specialty of watercolor house portraits.
Rosie says these made great gifts for weddings, graduations and many other
occasions. |
