Description: 2 story Victorian County Farm House with gingerbread decoration, gable & hip roof (frame now covered with siding).  Built as a 2 family home but the Herrmanns changed that.  Porch around front and side with 2 front doors.  Patterned after a Victorian house on an acre of land.  The old barn was torn down and 2 similar buildings were erected c1925: one as a garage and the other as a chicken house.
Story 1: The builder ran into difficulties and Harold Herrmann's father bought it as he was going to get married.  Harold Herrmann (615 Myrtle) was born there in 1909 (later a Terrace Park Council member).  He graduated from Terrace Park School in 1927.
Story 2: 1917/18 was the worst winter in memory: 1st snow, then warm and rain, then it froze and formed a crust on top and sledding was excellent.  Influenza made many sick and those with homeopathic care survived - others didn't.  (According to a November 16, 1999 Cincinnati Enquirer article "an estimated 30 million people - 550,000 in the United States - perished throughout the world as new strains of influenza were exposed to a population that had no immunity.")
Story 3: This home was on the turnpike and chicken dinners were served on Sundays.  What is now Marian Lane was its cow pasture.
Story 4: William F. Herrmann was born 5 April 1871 and died 15 April 1951, aged 80 years, Craver Funeral Home.  His son, Harold, was born 21 March 1919 and died 22 July 1996, aged 77 years, Moore Funeral Home.  They are both buried in Section 22 of Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford OH.  (see 615 Myrtle Avenue)
Story 5: Thomas Joe Barrere was born 7 October 1934 and died 29 January 1954, aged 19 years, buried in Section 23 of Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford OH, Monroe Funeral Home.  Mary Barrerre died 26 June, 1976 and Thomas Barrerre died June 27, 1976.
Story 6: Richard K. Mittendorf died 5 September, 2011.  Earlier Dick also lived at 505 Marietta 1963-65, 407 Miami 1965-68 and 616 Yale 1975-1998.  Shirley (nee Firby) died Thursday 20 June 2013.  Preceded in death by parents, Virginia and Clayton Firby, and Brother John (Jack) Firby.
