Luise Gerlinde Adrian-Schmitt was born 26 February 1934 in Pirmasens, Germany to Otto and Gertrude Adrian. She married Werner F. S. Schmitt in Cincinnati OH, December 18, 1952. She died April 23, 2017 at the age of 83. Gerlinde attended Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati, later working for the Cincinnati Enquirer and then Manpower. With her husband she owned Rotepohl Jewelers. She hosted a weekly German music radio program in the 1960s and 70s, worked with the Cincinnati Citizenship Council and was instrumental in forming local German cultural groups.
